Home Pictures Galleries How to Buy About my WorkCalendarBiopic

There are three ways to buy my work; from a gallery that has my work, from the website or direct from me. I also do commisions.

Buying through a gallery

Full details are given of all the galleries which normally show my work. Contact them to check availability and opening times before going along. The gallery owners will be only too delighted to be of help.

Buying through the website

(Updated 1st April 2004)
I now have the PayPal and NatWest FastPay facilities so all paintings can be bought securely using your credit card. After choosing a picture click on 'Buy' and follow the on-screen instructions. I also accept personal cheques. Cheques should be sent with order and, once cleared, I will personally parcel up the picture and see to its delivery (there is no charge for delivery or packing). I don't recommend buying works under glass this way, however; I can remove the glass and send the picture in its mount and frame or remove these entirely and send the painting alone. Naturally, there will be a reduction in price for this.

Buying direct from the artist

You may like to visit me and see the very latest work - finished and unfinished. You could buy this way or collect work ordered through the website. Or you might just want to have a look!

Commissions

I willingly undertake commissions - not just landscapes, but virtually any subject. However, I would require good quality photographs from which to work. Although I normally work in oils on canvas these days I can also offer work in acrylic on canvas, acrylic on paper or even black and white drawings on paper. Prices will be comparable with work on the website of a similar size. Commissions can be framed or unframed. The best approach is to contact me and we can discuss details from there.

Frames

In the past I have had frequent difficulty in choosing frames and have made some horrendous (and expensive) mistakes. I have tried overcoming the problem in various ways - by making my own, by painting onto the frame, by making the frame an essential part of the picture (as in the Icons pictures) or by leaving the choice to the gallery. Some strategies were more successful than others. Nowadays my work is framed by Tony Rae at Rae Art Services in Bingley; their work is always of a very high standard and consistently professional.
Standard frameMy standard frame is 70mm (23/4") deep in obeche hardwood, limewaxed and beautifully finished; it creates a clean, contemporary feel and offsets the work perfectly. The search for 'my frame' is finally over! Where work is not presented in my 'standard frame' it will be described as 'gallery frame' - these vary from simple frames to more elaborate hand-painted ones. Naturally, this has some effect on price. If you prefer, work can be purchased unframed - even if it currently has one. There will , of course, be a reduction in price for this option; the amount will vary from picture to picture. Contact me for details of individual pictures. This option only applies if you are buying direct from me; galleries are unlikely to remove pictures from frames.
