SKETCHBOOKS 1
This and the next section show a few pages from some of my many sketchbooks. They appear in (more or less) chronological order, beginning with a page from my NDD sketchbook back in Art School days and ending with work done in the last year or two. (Click on the images to enlarge as usual.)

They have been scanned in at A4 size - some of the books were a little bigger than A4 in which case the image has been cropped. I haven't made any attempt to describe the subject matter.

The intention is to provide an insight into range and working method and how these change over time.

All these pages are drawn from direct observation - I haven't shown any pages that are concerned with working out ideas and compositions etc. Some of these drawings were done with the intention of perhaps leading onto a painting - others are done merely for the pleasure of doing the drawing.

Of course this can only be a brief glimpse. I have been using sketchbooks all my life and my current sketchbook is number 55 so this lot doesn't even scratch the surface.
